ELCA takes part at the Lift Trade Show in Milan on 12-15 November 2008 to discuss opportunities and threats that components manufacturers are facing in the European and International market.
In the framework of Lift 2008, ELCA, the European Lift Component Manufacturers Association, reaffirms its role as voice of the lift component manufacturers in Europe meeting with its members, other lift components producers and strengthening relations and common goals with other associations in the lift industry sector. ELCA Board members present at the Lift Trade show agreed that today the world of international finance is affecting the actual economy and also the lift components manufacturers need to face this reality in particular awaiting for development in the property sector. Therefore, more then ever ELCA needs to engage in an action to voice common interests for the future of the lift components manufacturers in Europe, specifically affecting micro small and medium sized enterprises. The European Association is engaged in this direction bringing emerging issues such as essential safety requirements and energy consumption to the attention of the entire lift component sector. Its priorities for the year 2009 are: Guide the revision of EN81/1&2 toward a clear definition of the minimum requirements for the presence of diagnostic devices for lift safety circuits Enforce safety of technical personnel through the support of only reduced headroom lifts Call for revision of EN81-28 and industry-wide standardization of communication protocols for lift remote alarm management Support advanced solutions for lift remote monitoring Support participation of Notified Bodies in CEN working groups Collaborate on the enforcement of safety requirements for existing lifts Protect members against the infringements of design copyrights - Focus on the correct implementation of energy saving requirements for the lift industry
ELCA invites all lift components manufacturers to join forces with current members. ELCA has organized the meeting of the Board members during the Lift 2008 and has also met with the other Associations EFESME and ELA to discuss common strategies and opportunities for the revisions of the norms.
